'Brave' Review

Pixar's "Brave" doesn't deserve some of the icy ink it's getting, but it isn't exactly a triumph, either. Still, those ruby red locks are a wonder to watch, and it's nice to see a rare mother-daughter tale in the animation landscape.

'The Lorax' Review

I truly adored Illumination Entertainment's rendition of Dr. Seuss's "The Lorax," easily the best film adaptation yet of the timeless author's work.

'Puss in Boots' Review

Had I not just acquired an adorable new cat (Hi, Lucy!), I may not have warmed so well to this essentially needless spinoff, which breezes out of your memory like a fur ball in a windstorm (hehehe). Nevertheless, there's a lot of beautiful imagery here, for cat owners and non-cat owners alike.

'Rango' Review

How I adored this woolly, Gore Verbinski-directed CG beaut, which tops its helmer's entire "Pirates" trilogy (and by all signs the forthcoming follow-up, too). Looks like Johnny Depp has found his new Burton, and given that partnership's recent output, we may be looking at the rise of a more beautiful friendship. "Rango" is the best-looking non-Pixar film of its kind to come along in some time. Its abundant homages are plenty fun, too.
