Congrats on making the South Philly Review, Kurt. Though I must say Paul McCartney/The Beatles is (are) the best pop artist(s) of all time, I'm glad to see you're getting published in Philly. Now what says you about "The Men Who Stare at Goats"?
I've not yet seen "The Men Who Stare at Goats"; however, I know it's getting some seriously mixed reviews (Entertainment Weekly slapped it with an F -- ouch). But I'm intrigued by the cast, and the last time Clooney worked with Grant Heslov, the great "Good Night, and Good Luck" was the result. I just hope it's not something that trips over its own attempts to be strange.
Hey, if you're into The Beatles, you should look into a new British film called "Nowhere Boy," about the adolescence of John Lennon and the formative years of the band. Not sure when it opens in the U.S., but there's a lot of positive buzz surrounding it.
Also, note: I said MJ was "perhaps" the greatest pop artist of all time, leaving some wiggle room for arguments like yours. One thing I will say: "This is It," which I didn't expect to like, certainly makes a strong case for that bold statement.
